SO THIS GUY GOES FOR A WALK

-Setting: city, November, 8 pm, 2052
-What's implied is chilling
-when this book was written everyone would be out and together
-the author was imagining the future
-no one was out
-What happened to him wasn't okay so he let his imagination roam wild
Tone: The tone of the story is very mysterious and kind of creepy.
Character: At first I was confused about the main character, how he was described was kind of just normal so I was confused on why the cop pulled him over and it created a mystery.
-theme:
intro[Bradbury's experience & feelings]------humanity/technology/authority
-tone--2
-character--3

let me walk you through the pedestrian

In the pedestrian by Bradbury, he expresses his experiences and feelings throughout the story. He wrote this story in the 1900's when we weren't as advanced as we are now (technology wise). He foreshadows the future in his writing when he describes the tv, the lonely streets, and only one cop car. The way in which he writes helps us to better understand the plot, tone, and character.

A plot tells the reader with specific details what occurred in a writing. In this case the plot starts with a man going for a walk. When Bradbury tells us his experience he gives us such great detail to help us better picture the situation in the story. He describes the way in which how he was seeing everything and what he was thinking about when he saw these things. Such as what he was thinking when the police told him to stop and put his hands up, we knew what he was thinking as if we were inside his mind.

The tone of this story is more like a mysterious vibe. He describes how lonely it is out and how no one is around. The way in which he describes how the streets are quiet. It gives us a sense of how the community and atmosphere around him aren't quite as we would expect during the time in which he wrote this story. But at the same time we can relate. Nowadays if you go for a walk you will see (like Bradbury described) lights through windows and its most likely from a tv. This story was written a long time ago but it was written about the future so in some case was he kind of predicting the future that we have come to know?

To better help us understand character he tells us how the police are walking and driving around. There is only one police car in this story but the policeman who is driving around and stops Bradbury gives off a weird vibe. The way he just stops Bradbury as if it was bad to just walk around is very suspicious. When the cop does stop him and asks if he has a profession Bradbury answers that he does and that it is writing but the cop then continues to say that he doesn't have a profession as if saying that writing at this time period isn't considered a profession. This gives off a rude look to the cop for saying that.

In Bradbury's writing we can see how he influenced the way he wrote to hep us better understand his experience. Not only did he give good detail but also gave us a small entrance into the way he thought.

STORY OF MY LIFE

A moment in my life which I could turn into a story is when I went to Mexico. Usually in Mexico many people tell some haunting stories from there or share stories from personal experience. When I went to Mexico there was a story we heard about a girl haunting a bridge. When ever the bridge was reconstructed the bridge would collapse and it was all because a girl died there. She was a little girl and she had a doll and the doll was left behind on the bridge when the little girl died. So every time people would see that doll they knew not to cross the bridge or something bad would happen to you. Well when I went to Mexico me and my cousins and my aunt went down to a pizza place and of course it was during the night. Well in order to get to the pizza place we had to cross the bridge but we were all really scared but at that time we didn't know about the story of the little girl and the doll we were just scared because it was dark. So we crossed but I don't remember seeing a doll but when we came back after we got our pizza there was a doll and of course we all ran. But on our way back we saw 3 shadows of mariachis and they were all dressed up ad we could hear them playing but there was no where the shadow could've came from because it was just one alley way going up to the houses. Of course we were all scared and we ran but we all couldn't sleep that night, it was is if we were being watched the entire time.

LITERATURE ANALYSIS #2-Flipped

The book I read was Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. The reason I chose this book is because I love the genre of the book. Its kind of like a romance and comedy. The plot of the book starts off with 2 main characters, Julie and Bryce. It shows 2 different perspectives on how they met and what happened before they ended up actually admitting to themselves that they liked each other. Bryce moved into a new neighborhood when he was young and it happened to be that Juli lived in that neighborhood. Juli is a very enthusiastic person so when she first met Bryce she knew she wanted to give him a kiss. This kind of foreshadows the entire story because at the end of Juli does end up getting her kiss. The tone of this story is very intimate because of the way they both describe the way each other talked and acted. Both perspectives give us a clear picture of what was going on in the story. I thin the author was trying to teach us to be ourselves despite what other people might think. In the story, Bryce didn't want to admit his feelings for Juli because people talked badly about her and she was too enthusiastic for him, and he was just overall embarrassed of her. I give this book a 10/10 because im a sucker for romance books.

THE VALUE OF MY TIME

Some time investments that are helping me relieve stress are helping FFA with making posters for our next meeting. Drawing and making thigs really makes me happy and helps me feel like I'm helping out but at the same time its fun. During this last week I spent most of my time sleeping. I don't know why this week made me very exhausted but all I wanted to do when I got home from school was sleep. Every day I gave 6 hours or so away. I don't really want to go to school and wake up early everyday in order to walk to school which is just a waste of 40 minutes each day in which I could be giving more time away by doing homework. I think most of my time is giving because I doing things I personally wouldn't do if it were up to me.

HOW I READ

  • Reading is a particular talent so professional readers are amateurs.
  • Amateurs are not necessarily bad.
  • "Words and ideas can change the world"
  • Rules led them to a certain type of behavior.
    •  Fear factor among the students because its still not right to do in class.

  • We fear what we don't understand.
  • In literature we have to be able to talk about something in order for us to be understood.
  • When we analyze we try to find out what the author is saying since some of them are dead or we just cant ask them.
  • Meaning is constructed by us not the text.
  • If you like something it makes it easier
  • Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life.
  • Sapere Aude means dare to be wise

HAWTHORNE AND POE ON DREAMS

In both works of art the author makes us question what is reality and what isn't. They draw a picture for us in order to see what is actually true and what isn't. They compare things that aren't likely to occur to things that are. A similarity between the two is that they both follow the idea that if anything that we see is what they actually seem.

INVESTING IN ME

So far ive been raising pigs for 2 years with the Santa Maria FFA. I raise my pig for about 2 or 3 months until the fair in July where I sell my pig. Usually pigs are sold by the pound and if you have a buyer then you are more likely to profit from it. Our expenses are about $1000 but I don't spend that much. Pigs have to weigh between 225 and 270 in order for them to be allowed in the fair. The minimum a pig sells for is $7 but since I have a buyer I get it sold for $12 per lb. The pigs ive had for the last 2 years have weighed between 240-255 so I make a lot of profit. It is also a very fun way to learn new things and also make money.

LETTER TO A MENTOR DRAFT 1

How can you create a company so well known all around the world? How would you start something from nothing? If I wanted to become an enterpernuer but with livestock and owning and running my own business how can I start? I don't understand how something can grow from nothing? I would want to speak to the boss of Nike or Disney, some of the most biggest known companies in order to better understand how they got to where they're at.

FIRST IMPRESSION OF A DREAM

The poem "Dream Within a  Dream" by Poe was very in my opinion, deep? It gets me thinking about my big question. If everyone or anything is in fact real. Dreams can be manipulated depending on many things. Some may be because of what is happening in your life at that time. Sometimes they can represent something. A lot of people believe that dreams occur when something is going to happen in your life, like if you're going to get sick or if something good is coming your way. This poem made me feel as if someone else understood what I was thinking. It really captured my thoughts about my big question into that poem.
