- Hawthorne's purpose for writing this story was to show us how your perspective on someone can change and people who seem one way can be completely different when you start to know them better or in this case gain more information about them.
- Yes i think Faith fits her because in the story, Goodman Brown was questioning his Faith and if his Faith could change. I think that's how it also played out in the story because Goodman Brown was questioning his wife and if she was capable of being this other person he didn't know. I don't think he had complete faith in her because he kept questioning it after the dream.
- I think the pink ribbons signify the innocence of Faith.
- I think everything he witnessed was a dream but a dream that he created by the thing he saw or heard about the people.
- I think the old man is the devil in disguise. The way in which he is proud of what he did to the men is a way this shows us.
- The staff leads Brown onward into the forest. The man keeps offering Brown his staff during the whole journey so therefore asking him to keep "digging" as if to keep searching for the truth of who the people really are.
- If Brown stayed home instead of going into the forest I think his perspective wouldn't change on everyone. He would still only see what he wants to see. He wouldn't see the "other side" of them. Yes he would probably still have faith because going into the forest is what made him uneasy about his faith towards everyone
